Your Diet and Health Linked

When you eat, do you think about how the food/beverages consumed will affect your body? If not, you should.

Your health is directly impacted by what you eat. Your entire body depends on proper nourishment. Your body will try to make do with what it’s given, but may be functioning at a suboptimal level and causing long-term harm. It’s your body’s primitive survival instinct to stay alive. For example, your immune, nervous, skeletal, and muscular systems; organs (internal, skin…); cellular processes; mental function; and so on are all linked to your nutrition and can be compromised based on the types of foods you eat. It’s not just about calories (kcalories) – energy in and energy out. We live in a society that is fixated on weight loss. It wasn’t until the  baby-boomer generation that other anti aging nutrients gained media attention – that doesn’t make them less important. These nutrients have always been vital to the success of your survival, longevity and graceful aging.
  • Variety and moderation to increase your likely hood of getting various nutrients and minimizing the chance of becoming toxic, deficient and/or developing an allergen sensitivity or other illnesses like cancer are fundamental.
  • AVOID overly processed foods.
  • Make healthy foods convenient by planning ahead. Read the packaging labels – Nutrition and Ingredient Labels.
  • Strive to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables – they are loaded with nutrients, low in calorie and unaltered.
  • Wash all your produce.
  • Go organic whenever you can. Check for price comparisons – many times organic foods will go on sale, be a few cents higher and/or need to be moved fast before expiration date…. This is a great time to buy.
